Tanghulu

Tanghulu was initiated at Southern Song dynasty, when the emperor¡¦s wife suffered from an odd disease that she did not want to eat anything. Doctors at that time had no means to solve this but a monk could by suggesting five pieces of hawthorns each day and night. Days after, her diet recovered entirely.

Hawthorns, salty taste, usually eat with sugar. For now, people use a stick to put hawthorns together, and put melted sugar on the top of them. A Delicious Tanghulu is complete.
